Work Underway At New Burriana Car Park

Work is continuing on the site of the new car park at Burriana, with a large crane towering over the site.
When complete (sometime in 2015) the car park will be on three levels and have capacity for some 200 cars. The total cost of the project will be 2.7 million Euros and is expected to take a total of 18 months to complete. Finance for the project is coming from the state fund for the modernisation of tourism infrastructures (FOMIT). The site for the new structure was previously an empty parcel of land, which was used for parking in the summer months, just off one of the access roads to Burriana and a few minutes walk to the beach.
The new car park will be the fourth public car park to be built in Nerja, the others being the underground car parks at the Balcon de Europa, with 733 spaces, Verano Azul park with 273 spaces and the public pool car park, with 70 spaces. There is also the privately owned car park at Los Huertos.
