UPDATE

4th July 2011

Almost two weeks on from the initial reports that Mary Anne Goossens had gone missing (see below), there is still no news as to her whereabouts. The last know sighting of the missing Dutch tourist was in Frigiliana on Friday the 17th of June, after having been dropped off there by taxi.

The Guardia Civil have conducted a search of the surrounding area with dogs and helicopters, but have found no trace. A court order has been obtained to check the location of her mobile phone by tracing its signal, but this has not yielded any new information.

Rumours abound as to what might have happened to her, but to date these are nothing more than speculation and the search for Mary Anne continues.

The family of Mary Anne Goossens, a 48-year Dutch tourist who was on holiday in the town of Nerja, have reported that she has been missing for a week, and have announced they have launched a search to try and locate her.

Ms Goossens arrived in Malaga on 15 June to spend ten days on holiday and went to Nerja the next day, where she checked in to the Hotel Bajamar and sent a text message to her family. Since sending that message she has not been in contact again with her family, her mobile phone has remained off and she has not made use of her bank cards or slept in her hotel, even though her luggage is still in the room she reserved.

According to her family, the missing woman left Holland in a good mental and physical state and they are deeply concerned for her welfare as she would normally have kept in touch with them on a daily basis.

Anyone with any information of her whereabouts are urged to contact the Guardia Civil or contact the family in Holland on 0031-651582068.
