Nerja Council Wants Beach Subsidies To Continue
Nerja Council will be debating a motion to call on the regional government to confirm whether or not they intend to continue subsidising the cost of providing the swimming area buoys and the cleaning boats in the Nerja area. At present 60% of the cost of running these services is paid for by the regional government, who have as yet not confirmed if this agreement will be renewed.
28 Bids Submitted For New Car Park At Burriana
A total of 28 proposals have been submitted to Nerja Council to carry out the construction of the new multi-storey car park at Burriana. The total cost of the project is nearly €3M and will provide an extra 180 parking spaces. Work is due to start in September.
Summer Rubbish Collection Service Starts July 2nd
From Monday, the summer refuse collection service starts in the old town centre, with non-organic waste, such as cardboard, paper and plastics, being collected between two and three in the afternoon, Mondays to Fridays. This additional service will operate in Calles Diputación, Carmen, Puerta del Mar, Pintada, Cruz and Angustias, until September 14th and is designed to avoid rubbish building up in the town centre in the busiest period of the year.
New Summer Hours For Town Library
The town library will open from 9am until 10pm from July in order to provide a place for local students to study in the afternoons. The library will operate as normal in the mornings until 2pm, after which it will remain open for students to use as a place to study.
Foreigners Department Summer Opening Hours
During July and August the opening hours of Nerja Foreigners Department will be Monday and Thursday from 10:00am to 1:30pm.
2012 IBI Tax To Be Paid By September 10th
Owners of property in Nerja have until September the 10th to pay their IBI tax for 2012. Separately the vehicle entrance tax for 2010 has to be paid by August 6th. All enquiries to the tax office in Calle Axarquía 3 (opposite the entrance of Calle Castilla Perez).
