The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo (PP), has described as “electoral pantomime”, last weeks announcement by the Junta de Andalucía (the Andalucian regional government) that they will publish the proposals for the new marina project (which will be located on the Torrox side of the Nerja/Torrox boundary) within six months and added that “disinterest and stupidity have characterized the actions of the Junta with regard to marinas over 30 years of socialist rule.”
According to the mayor the central government in Madrid has not in fact approved the location for the marina in Torrox and claims that it has noted that the evidence provided “is insufficient to accurately assess the condition of the various proposals. ”
Back in 1989 the then government decided the best location for a new marina was on the Nerja side of the Nerja/Torrox border and the council is asking why, over thirty years later, this has now apparently changed.
The elections for the Junta de Andalucia are due to be held on March the 25th of this year and clearly Mayor Armijo expects that a change of regional government in Seville will prompt a change of location for the marina once more.
