The beach at Torrecilla, showing the new wall that has been built to replace the old railings, which were rusting badly in the sea air.
The new wall continues up the hill (towards Plaza Cangrejos) and, when complete, all of the old railings on this stretch will have been replaced at a cost of €50,000. The footpath down to the beach itself is also being improved in this phase of the works.
The original steel railings were installed in 2000 and required annual maintenance.

Unfortunately it looks like they are in fact going to be putting railings back on top of the wall. The workmen are currently drilling the holes to put the posts in. Its a shame as it looks really nice now. :0(

It looks like they new walls are going to be left like that, the same as El Chucho – it really is a big improvement on the old railings and you can now sit in Restaurant Torrecilla and look out over the beach towards the sea, without having to peer through some rusting iron.
