A woman was slightly injured today when part of a cactus tree fell on her as she was walking along the pavement near to the Riu Monica hotel in Nerja. The victim was assisted by nearby workers and was given first aid by the ambulance crew who were called to the scene and she later left by taxi.
Workers had been pruning the cactus trees prior to the incident, although it is not clear if this is what caused the branch to fall.
