Nerja’s hoteliers have reported that during the first two weeks of August their occupancy rate was 94.65%, slightly up on last August. Occupation rates ranged from 88% through to 99% during the first half of the month.
Nerja’s tourist information office also reported that in July they received a total of nearly 12,000 visitors, composed of 4,000 Spanish visitors, followed by 1,800 British visitors and 1,200 French.
Nationally the Spanish Tourism Ministry are forecasting an increase of 2.5% in the number of foreign visitors to Spain, taking the total to more than 22 million over the summer months, the increase being attributed in part to the events in Egypt and Turkey.
