The heavy autumn rains that have fallen (around twice the average amount), have replenished Málaga’s reservoirs to 70% of capacity, reducing the risk of droughts next summer.

On Sunday twenty Spanish provinces were on yellow alert for heavy rain and coastal winds, according to the Spanish met office (AEMET) and there was flooding in some towns, including Jaen in Andalucia (pictured). Jaen is around 100 miles to the north of Nerja.

The rain has reached Nerja as well, with heavy rain falling yesterday evening, although the warm air meant that temperature hit 23°C at midday. More rain is forecast here on Tuesday and Wednesday, with clear skies and temperatures back to 21°C at the end of the week.
