Today, Easter Sunday, is the final day of Semana Santa and the longest of the easter processions is due to start in a few hours time. The procession of Jesus Resurrected goes from El Salvador church on the Balcon de Europa and parades around most of the old town centre, before arriving back several hours later at El Salvador church. This year’s procession is threatened by bad weather, with rain forecast to begin in the late morning, getting heavier around 2pm. If the procession is cancelled due to the rain, this will be the first time this has happened in Nerja.

The Nerja Donkey Sanctuary also have an event on today, with an Easter Egg Hunt, live music, BBQ and pony rides, scheduled to start at 1pm. Again, this is likely to be cancelled if the forecast rain materialises.
