Nerja council have announced that three new car parks with the capacity for up to 200 cars are under construction in the Chaparil area of Nerja (near to Torrecilla beach), and they should be open to the public by the end of the week. Councillor for Infrastructure Antonio García made the surprise announcement that the areas of land on avenida del Mediterráneo and Almirante Carranza, that were previously used as parking before being walled off by the owners, will shortly reopen.
The council has come to agreements with the owners of the land and is now constructing entrances and clearing the ground to make the car parks useable once again. Councillor Garcia stated that the new car parks will help reduce the congestion in the area of Chaparil, especially in the busy summer period.
