Beach Lifeguards NerjaNerja’s lifeguards are being given first aid training over the next few days by the Distrito Sanitario de la Axarquía. The courses cover basic life support plus first aid techniques for dealing with minor injuries such as jellyfish and weever fish stings.

These training sessions consist of three basic workshops and are being held at the request of Nerja’s beaches Councillor Nieves Atencia, who has stated that whilst the lifeguards are all qualified first aiders there is no harm in more training, especially as the lifeguards are the first people who come into contact with casualties on the beach.

At the start of these training sessions, which will continue until Wednesday at the Nerja Cultural Centre, Nieves Atencio highlighted the work done by the lifeguards which has led to many positive comments from swimmers.
