The lure of roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes worked its black magic in Maro attracting werewolves, ghosts, vampires and the undead to the town’s main square for Maroween 2012, also known as the Chestnut and Sweet Potato Festival. There was live music, dancing and entertainment provided by La Carpa and the Cristian dance group as well as awards for the best costumes
Every year the popularity of the event grows and this year TV cameras were present and broadcast part of Maroween live throughout Andalucia on Canal Sur TV.
The Popular Traditions Councillor, Sandra Jimena, thanked the crowd for attending in large numbers as well as Maro’s mayor and Festival Committee for organising the event. Sandra Jimena also thanked Doble Objetivo for designing the Maroween posters and Minimarket Maro who supplied the sweet potatoes.
