More than 700 people took part in the 56th Carrera Urbana that took place yesterday. The start and finish line for the races was on the Balcon de Europa, with a course 8km in length around the streets of Nerja.
The men’s winner of the main event was Antonio Prieto with a time of 26.03, followed by teammate Faiçal Brit at 26.06, and in third place Cristian Benitez at 26.12. The ladies winner was Esther Hidalgo at 30.05, second Trini Martin on 32.49, and third Maite Urdiales .
Additionally there were other events over shorter distances for children of different age groups, age 5 and up, and a walking race over 5km won by Luis Alberto Amezcua with a time of 20.56.
67 year old Paco Gallardo won a special award for having taken part in every one of the last 50 of these races. He was awarded with a framed photograph taken last year, presented by the Olympic athlete Alvaro Ferández from Nerja.
