The Nerja Athletics club El Club Nerja de Atletismo-Cueva de Nerja-UMA, won the Andalucian championships at the weekend, in both the male and female categories. The male team finished on 231 points (followed by Unicaja Jaen with 220 and Bahía de Algeciras with 204). The female team scored 234 points (followed by Unicaja Jaen with 223 and Bahía de Algeciras with 169).
Individual athletes who won were Pilar Cortacero and Pablo Acuña in the 100m, Araceli López and Josué Mena in the 200m, Enrique Morales in the 800m, Inma Cantero in the 1500m, Jesús Brenes and Eugenia Galán in the 3000m, Desi Valderrana in the 100m hurdles, María Pérez in the 5 kms, Miguel A. Marín in the triple jump, Virginia Martin in the high jump, Marta Casanova in the pole vault, Cristina Benavides shot put and Manuel Florido discus. In the 4×100 relay male Pérez, Mena, Andújar and Acuña and in the female event Toril, Cortacero, López and Valderrama.
