The Nerja Carnival Parade of 2012 was another great success for all those who took part and those who watched from the sidelines.  The effort that the people of Nerja put into their costumes is amazing, a great mix of style, humour and crudeness. Look out for more photographs and video of the parade, for now here are a few tasters below.

The final day of the Carnival is Sunday February 19th from 4.30pm

Entierro Del Chanquete – the Burial of the Sardine

The Nerja Municipal Band will accompany the wake and the wailing funeral procession which will pass the following streets: C/ Carmen, Plaza Cavana, Granada, Plaza de la Ermita, La Cruz, Pintada, Puerta del Mar y Playa de Calahonda.

Carnival is great. We have been lucky enough to catch it for the last 3 years now and I am always amazed at how all the town, whatever age join in and enjoy, it even tho it is pretty cold at night in February. A huge effort goes into making the costumes and floats. I just cant imagine it happening in many small towns here in England.
