Nerja Caves Sala de Cascada

The Nerja Caves foundation have taken the decision to remove the metal stands in the Sala de la Cascada this summer.  The structure, which was installed in the 1970s, has been deteriorating due to the damp conditions in the caves and has finally reached the end of its useful life.

The public seating is used during performances which take place in the Sala de La Cascada during the Caves Festival and at other times.  As a result of this, the number of seats available in this year’s Festival will be reduced to 500. The work to remove the stands will be undertaken at night, so as not to disrupt normal cave visiting hours.  The work will be supervised by the Foundation’s Scientific Committee to make sure the work is carried out without damaging the caves themselves.

This year’s Nerja Caves Festival starts on the 24th of July 2013 and tickets can be purchased in advance from the 30th of May from the ticket office at the Caves, or from the Nerja Museum or online from the caves own website: Cueva de Nerja. For the first time in the history of the Festival, this year’s poster was launched at the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, by its leading performers, Pastora Soler, and Manolo Sanlúcar. The programme this year includes the Salzburg String Quartet Soloists, accompanied by the renowned clarinettist Ferdinand Steiner, and the Ballet de Victor Ullate, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary.
