Nerja council have announced that the free car park on the site of the new health centre (by Mercadona) will be closed from 8am on Monday the 18th for resurfacing works to be carried out. The car park, which is on the banks of the Rio Chillar, will remain closed until the work is finished, which is expected to take two or three weeks. Cars must be removed from the car park before 8am, otherwise they run the risk of being towed away by the local police.
As part of the works, the surface of the car park will be leveled and covered with gravel. When complete the 3,500 square metre car park will have space for 150 cars.
There are pay car parks in the centre of town, accessed from Calle la Cruz, and Calle Prolongacion de Carabeo.
The new health centre has a budget of €1.5M, but no start date has been set for the project to begin.
