Nerja’s hoteliers have reported another succesful summer, with occupancy rates reaching 96% in the month of August. Most of the visitors have come from Spain itself, followed by the British, French, Germans, Italians, Swedish and Irish in terms of numbers.

Nerja’s tourist information office on the Balcon de Europa said that more than 10,000 people used their services, with the most frequently asked questions being about the Nerja caves and how to buy tickets for the Gemeliers concert which takes place during October’s Feria in the town.

The new multi-storey car park at Burriana beach also finally opened last month, complete with its own tourist information office, helping to reduce the chronic parking shortage in this part of town during the summer months.
