Users of the Tripadvisor website have voted Nerja’s Parador Hotel (which overlooks Burriana beach) as the ninth best out of all the 93 Paradors in Spain. The Paradors in Antequera and Ronda are just ahead of Nerja in seventh and eighth place respectively.
The Parador hotel chain is owned by the Spanish government and the hotels themselves are usually in historic buildings (such as castles, palaces, fortresses, convents and monasteries) or built in areas of great beauty or special interest. The Nerja Parador is a modern building located on the clifftops above the western end of Burriana beach. The gardens have spectacular views over the Mediterranean and also have lift access to the beach below, for the use of guests.
The Hotel Parador de Cruz de Tejeda in Las Palmas in the Canaries came out top in this year’s survey.
Last year Nerja’s Parador came out sixth in the same survey.
