Last night’s Russian Ballet gala at the Nerja Caves Festival was a sell out success, with over 800 tickets sold, featuring stars from the major Russian ballet companies, directed by Aidar Akhmetov.
Anna Antonicheva, principal dancer with the Bolshoi in Moscow, and her counterpart at the Mariinsky Ballet of St. Petersburg, Evgeny Ivanchenko, opened the show with a famous adage “The Swan Lake” and then came back on stage to dance the seventh waltz of “Les Sylphides”.
Another highlight of the night was the performance of the dancer and choreographer Farukh Ruzimatov, with the piece “Bolero” by Ravel, which received the biggest ovation of the night.
The gala ended with the famous pas de deux from “Don Quixote” performed by the Kremlin Ballet principal dancers Mikhail Martynyuk and Alexandra Timofeeva, two young but established artists in their own country, who had previously danced the neoclassical piece “What is what “.
