Casa Helena was 1 very large villa which has been sympathetically restored/converted to 3 separate properties, all with their own private swimming pools and air conditioned.  The two 4 bedroom villas are described here.  The properties can be rented together or individually accommodating from 2 to 23 people.

Casa Helena 1 SONRISA

Both villas are entered through the same main entrance but then have completely separate, private entrances approached by a series of steps.  The complex is situated above Burriana Beach which is just 500 metres away.

Sonrisa is a 4 bedroom property and is the lower level of the original building.  Outside there is a large terrace with a kidney shaped pool (8x 4m with deep end of 2.3 metres), sunbeds and a BBQ area and shaded pergola for dining al fresco.

The living area is reached via steps from the terrace and has an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area with a futon sofa bed.  There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and 2 with twin beds.  All bedrooms are painted in lovely modern shades and nicely furnished with wardrobes and bedside tables.  The master bedroom is reached by 3 steps and has an en-suite shower room and small patio terrace.  There is a further shower room with toilet, washbasin and washing machine.

The properties can be rented together or individually accommodating from 2 to 23 people.

Casa Helena 2 ALLEGRIA

Allegria is a 4 bedroom property and is the top level of the original house with a few extra steps to reach it than Sonrisa but all on one level once you enter the terrace and pool area.  The pool is rectangular 7.5 m x 3m and particularly suitable for young children as depths are from 80cm to 1.2 m at the deepest end.  It is surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers and has an outside dining area with pergola and BBQ.  From the end of the terrace, to the side of the house, are stairs leading up to a large roof terrace with a further BBQ and plenty of space for sunbathing.

The kitchen is through a rustic archway off the dining area and houses the washing machine.  There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and the 2 further large bedrooms have 3 single beds in each.  All have wardrobes and bedside tables or dressing table.  Inside, the house is painted in modern, bright shades of terracotta, dusty pink, deep blues and lilac.

There is a spacious dining/living area which is comfortably furnished.  There are 2 shower rooms, both with shower cubicles, toilet and wash basin.

Both houses have air conditioning/heating, Satellite TV, DVD player, CD player, microwave, fridge/freezer, dish washer, toaster, coffee maker and washing machine with a selection of games and books.

Local Amenities and Nerja

The villas are only 500 metres from beautiful Burriana Beach.  This beach is wide and sandy with safe bathing for all the family.  It is lined with bars and restaurants, including the famous Ayo’s which offers fresh paella every day, cooked in huge pans over a wood fire.  From the beach you can take part in many watersports, including kayaking, paragliding and diving.

A large supermarket is about 700 metres away.

Nerja town centre, a 15 minute walk away, has 8 beaches, many with the Blue Flag award, and the unspoilt Spanish town retains its charm, particularly in the old quarter with its narrow streets and traditional tapas bars.  The famous Balcon De Europa, with its incredible panoramic views, is the focal point of Nerja and cannot be missed.  For shopping Calle Pintada is the main destination, and a weekly outdoor market is held on Tuesdays.  Festivals take place throughout the year and are always a highlight for those in Nerja at the time.

As a base for touring the eastern Costa Del Sol Nerja is perfect.  Malaga is only an hour away by car, Granada a couple of hours and the beautiful inland mountains and villages on the doorstep.
