Autumn starts on September the 21st and continues through until December the 21st, when Winter takes over. This autumn period marks the cooling down from the heat of the summer and also brings in the unsettled weather, with more cloud and rain. However as Nerja is around about 1000 miles further south than the UK, when the sun is shining (which is does, a lot) you can expect temperatures of 26ºC or more during October with plenty of beach weather left in the month.
The start of October features the Nerja Feria – a party and fairground over several days – and it is usual during the Feria to have at least one day of rain, so if you are visiting during October don’t expect sun every day of the month.

As well as some rainy days, October typically has long settled periods of high pressure, with calm conditions and hot sunshine. The hottest October day in 2012 was October 11th, where a temperature of 28ºC was recorded at 2pm and the coolest day was the 21st of October with a low of 15ºC recorded at 8.30am. There will also be days with strong off shore winds, which can be cold, so make sure you also bring a fleece. Windy days are ideal for exploring further inland away from the wind, and visiting Frigiliana or Torrox pueblo, or even going further afield to Malaga, Granada and Cordoba, which are all sensible day trips.
So what is the weather like in Nerja in October? With an average temperature of 24ºC in October, this is one of the best months to visit, with great weather for walking, dining outside and the chance of some good beach days as well, although it can get chilly in the evenings and don’t forget to bring your raincoat.
