Frigiliana’s Feria is held every year on the 13th of June in honour of their patron saint San Antonio de Padua. The feria lasts for five days and the start is signalled by rockets and a “diana floreada”.
The feria starts with the elections for the Queen of the Feria, followed by a concert and other events which take place throughout the feria week. Every evening, as night falls, the streets come to life and there is music and other performances in the official caseta.
One of the highlights of the feria is the Romeria on the 13th starting at 12.30 in the afternoon – an ox cart procession carrying the patron saint from the church to “El Pozo viejo” – an area by the rio Higuerón. This romeria commemorates the victory of the christians over the Moors in the “Batalla del Peñón”. There will be a firework display the same evening.
At 9pm on the 14th the Gemeliers will be perfoming – tickets €15 or €10 in advance from the Tourist Information Office.
This year will feature the first Carrera De Autos Locos where home made go karts will race down the hill. This will take place on the 15th at midday.
Frigiliana is 10 minutes drive from Nerja, in the hills overlooking the town. There are regular bus services from the bus station at the top of Nerja.
