If you need a private doctor, a session in the gym, a beauty treatment, yoga or even hypnotherapy, Nerja has what you need. Remember that in a medical emergency you should call 061on your phone or go to the ambulatorio (health centre) on Avenida de Pescia (the main road that runs across the top of Nerja). The health centre is on a side street opposite Narixa school and there is an illuminated cross (chemists symbol) at the end of the street (Calle Carlos Millon). You will need to take your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to get free treatment.
There are private clinics with emergency doctors at Clinica Santa Cecilia (tel 95 252 1024) on Calle Los Huertos in the centre of town and also at Clinica Rincon (tel 902 300 107) on Calle Antonio Ferrandis opposite the SuperSol supermarket.
You will need to have insurance or a means of payment to use these services.
There are six chemists (farmacias) around the town, one of which is always open for emergency prescriptions (“Farmacia de Guardia”). Our list of Nerja chemists has full details including which chemists is the “Farmacia de Guardia”.
There are also various places you can go to for physiotherapy, massage and yoga from qualified individuals as well as health food shops and alternative medicines. We list a selection below.
