The mayor of Nerja has announced that 35 companies have submitted their details to the Ministry of the Environment as part of the tender process for the construction of the new water treatment plant. The next milestone is June the 7th for the technical documentation followed by September the 13th for the financial details.
The mayor, José Alberto Armijo said that “we are pleased to note that we move forward in this important project for Nerja and it is a reality that no one dares to question even though some came to doubt that the government would undertake this project.”
The total budget for the project is around €40 million, with the work due to start in 2013 and a completion date of 2015. The project has been in the planning stages since the 1970s, with seemingly endless delays in the decision making process.
