At half past three yesterday (Friday) afternoon a waiter at Pepe Mesa restaurant on El Playazo beach in Nerja spotted a body floating in the water a short distance off shore. He called the police who retrieved the body of a black male aged 39 years old from Mali, who is believed to have come from the small boat of illegal immigrants that was intercepted by the authorities last week at Motril.
Thirty of the 56 immigrants who were detained in Motril early on Friday (23rd of December) appear to be under 18 years old. The boat was intercepted just over two miles off the coast at Motril.
