The Nerja Business Association are complaining that their members are facing increases of 154% on their water bills after the local water company increased their prices from 0.52 to 1.32 euros per cubic meter for any business which is over 100 square metres in size.
This change will hit hotels and hostals in particular and the Association has agreed to write to Nerja Council (who own the water company) to ask for the increase to be reduced as it is causing “serious damage to the hotels”.
The association goes on to complain that businesses have not had advance notice of the new charges, throwing their budgets into disarray.
