The local police in Nerja have asked motorists not to park in spaces reserved for disabled drivers unless they are genuinely entitled to do so. They have pointed out that this practice causes great inconvenience for disabled people if they can’t park in the areas reserved for them.
.
They have also said that in the past year they found five people to have been using fake disabled parking badges. Local police found photocopied cards, cards faked by computer and in some cases cards which belong to people who have died.
Illegally parked cars can be issued with fines or even towed away, so even if the locals are parking on the pavements or on pedestrian crossings and roundabouts, its wisest not to do the same.
