Nerja’s Burriana Beach will again be hosting the annual ‘Media Legua’ running race, which is organised by the Club Nerja de Atletismo in honour of Francisco Ortega Olalla, better known as ‘Ayo’, and the first Nerjeño to be selected for the national Spanish athletics team. The race is on Friday 19th August from 7pm.
The event attracts many top runners, from the local area and across Spain, but is also an open event, with races for all ages from children to veterans. Anyone wanting to take part can register on the day at Merendero Ayo on Burriana Beach, or contact the Nerja Athletic Club on nerjaatletismo@nerja.net. There are drinks and sandwiches for all participants and prizes for the winners.
If you don’t fancy taking part, this should be a fun evening out with plenty of bars to watch the races from, or you can just relax on the sand.
