Los Huertos Carabeo Nerja Car Park Charges
The large free car park situated in the centre of Nerja (between Calle Carabeo and Los Huertos) which is used as the Feria ground in October, is to start charging from April 15th 2011. A complex price structure means that monthly parking starts from €60 per month and short stay parking varies from 1.5 cents to 3 cents a minute (maximum of between €10.80 and €18.80 per day).
Visitors will no doubt pay, but cash strapped locals may well be looking for somewhere else to park.

Revised charges have been announced with hourly rates from €1.27 to €1.77 an hour (charged per minute). Users can also buy pre-paid tickets, which reduce the rates to as little as €0.38 per hour.
The free parking for residents arranged by the Mayor comes to an end this month, now that the local elections are over.
Remember that you can park for free in the neighbouring streets (if you can find a space) and there is also free parking in the car park behind the Mercadona supermarket (on the right as you cross the bridge on the way into Nerja).
