Friday the 28th of February, is Día de Andalucía (Andalucia Day) which commemorates the 1980 referendum in which the Andalucian electorate voted in favour of the Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia, which made Andalucia an autonomous region of Spain.
Throughout Andalucia there will be official acts to mark this 34th anniversary and in Nerja these will be held in Plaza de Andalucía starting at midday, next to the statue of Blas Infante.
The official acts will start with a performance by the Municipal Band at midday, followed by readings by students from the local schools, which will include various articles of the Statute of Autonomy.
Afterwards the Andalucian flag will be raised on the flagpole followed by a performance by the El Lerele choir.
The 28th will also see the 26th Dia del Pedal bicycle event, starting at the Balcon de Europa.
