Over the last three years Nerja council have pedestrianised or renovated various streets in the town centre, including Calle Carabeo, the Balcon de Europa and Plaza Cavana. Next it’s the turn of El Barrio, which runs from Plaza Cavana to Castilla Pérez.
The traffic on El Barrio has already been restricted by the use of bollards and the full pedestrianisation will be especially welcomed by pushchair and wheelchair users.
The total project budget will be around € 275,000 and the work will take between four and six months (give or take a year).
Calle Antonio Million, is currently being pedestrianised and when all the work is complete, it will be possible to walk on a car-free route all the way from the western end of Burriana to Parque Verano Azul.
