After the heavy storms three weeks ago that caused damage throughout the region, Malaga province is on yellow alert again from the Spanish meteorological agency, warning of heavy rain today. This is a phenomena known to many as Bank Holiday weather, as today is a ‘puente’ holiday, between yesterday’s and tomorrow’s bank holidays and as a result, Nerja is full of visitors (as pictured on the Balcon de Europa this morning).

Although a small amount of rain has fallen in Nerja today, it has been far less than in last month’s storms, when over 4 inches of rain fell in just over 24 hours, causing €850,000 of damage in the municipality. The total cost of the damage throughout the province of Andalucia was estimated to be in the tens of millions of euros.

The weather is forecast to improve from this evening, and tomorrow’s bank holiday should have fine weather, with little cloud and temperatures of up to 18ºC.
