After a busy year of competing around the country, Nerja’s Athletic Club “Cueva de Nerja-Uma” have finished fifth overall out of all the clubs in Spain and top of the rankings in Andalucia. The positions are based on the points won in individual championships in Spain across all the different disciplines and categories, indoors, outdoors, track based, cross country and mountain, competing against the best clubs.
Celebrating the news the club said that this “isn’t a forecast, this is the result of direct competition with our rivals, Nerja Athletics Club is the fifth best club in Spain and the best club in Andalucia”.
The top four clubs are Playas de Castellón, F.C. Barcelona, A.D. Maratón de Madrid and Valencia Terra i Mar, which are all semi-professional clubs.
The Nerja Athletics Club trains at the municipal athletics stadium and is open to everyone from age 6 upwards.
