Last weekend visitors to Nerja beaches found their safety enhanced by the installation of yellow marker buoys (deployed from the work boat shown in the picture).  These buoys mark the limit of the swimming area – boats under power and jetskis must stay out of this area.

If you are strong enough to be able to swim as far as the yellow buoys make sure that you do not go beyond them as swimmers can be difficult to spot from a fast moving boat.

The buoys start at the western end of Playazo beach and protect all of Nerja’s beaches. At the end of the summer the work boat comes round again and removes all the buoys, which will then go back into storage, ready for 2012.
