Nerja’s Christmas lights are due to be switched on this holiday weekend, the councillor for Popular Traditions Sandra Jimena has announced. The lights will be at the Balcon de Europa, Plaza Cavana, the barriadas de los Poetas and Las Protegidas, Maro village and various roundabouts in the town.

The Municipal Belén (nativity scene) will open on Friday the 7th in the council rooms on Calle Cristo. The Belén will open at 8pm and the Arena y Sal choir will also be in attendance. This year’s Belén is by José Miguel Ortuño and can be seen in the foyer of the Cultural Centre until it is moved to Calle Cristo.

On Saturday the 8th of December 2012, Maro will be celebrating the Inmaculada holiday, with a Christmas Roscos competition, starting at 7pm. Hot chocolate will also be supplied to go with the Roscos and the winner will be chosen by popular vote and all are welcome to attend.
