Nerja Council have passed a motion calling on the Andalucian Public Ports Agency (APPA) to send the Council the report that ruled out locating the new marina on the Nerja side of the Nerja/Torrox border. The council have also requested that the Agency resumes the task of drafting the blueprint and environmental impact study for the marina. The motion was passed with only the support of the ruling Partido Popular party – the Junta de Andalucia is controlled by the opposition PSOE party.
More than a year ago (February 2012) the managing director of the Andalucian Public Ports Agency (APPA), the Provincial Delegate of Public Works and Housing and the mayor of Torrox announced (just before the regional elections) that the plans would be released within six months and put on public display from October. These dates have come and gone with no sign of any plans being made public.
The current outline proposals are for the new marina to have 400 berths, a slipway and shopping and leisure facilities in a location 320 meters west of the mouth of the Frontiles creek, between Wilches and Calaceite beaches pm the Torrox side of the Nerja/Torrox border.
