The ‘Festival NerjaJazz‘ 2011 will take place between November 24th and 26th at the Nerja Cultural Centre on Calle Granada.

Opening the three day event will be the ‘Susan Valery Jazz Quartet’.  Susan Valery interprets the songs of the greatest jazz divas, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughan, Sheila Jordan amongst others.  Her powerful and emotional voice is perfectly matched by her three musicians, Javier Palomo on guitar, Markus Schneider on bass and Victor Del Campo on drums.

Friday 25th sees the ‘Oliver and Llombart Duo’ take to the stage.  This duo of Oliver Malaga on saxophone and Enrique Jaume Llombart on guitar have been together since 2005, playing concerts and festivals around the world to great acclaim.  Their repertoire takes in the full history of jazz, from 1920’s songs like Stardust, through the great American composers of the 40’s and 50’s, the avant-garde jazz of the 60’s and right up to modern days, including their own original compositions.

On Saturday ‘Irene Lombard‘ will be performing.  She will be reproducing her album ‘Naturah’ in full, a work of ten original songs with a jazz-soul influence and a fantastic blues style vocal.  Irene opened the Malaga Jazz Festival this year, where her performance was showered with praise, and Nerja has the privilege of having her close this year’s Nerja Jazz Festival.
