Two men were caught by the local police apparently in the act of stealing water pipes. The pipes which were piled up next to calle Mirto (near to the Sunday car boot and market site), were the property of the local water company, Aguas de Narixa who have recently complained of the theft of similar pipes.
The two men are both from Málaga and one of them has previous convictions for selling drugs and theft. When questioned by the police as to what they were doing handling the pipes, one replied that they were “just checking the weight”. The men also had an empty lorry with them parked nearby.
