Nerja council’s Councillor of Commerce, Nieves Atencia, has reported that the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía has approved the renewal Nerja’s status as a “large tourist municipality”. This allows Nerja’s shopkeepers to open at times that would otherwise be prohibited by Sunday and holiday trading laws and is in effect during Easter week and the summer months from July to September.
The renewed period will run for another 4 years until 2016, having expired at the end of the 2012 season.
