Nerja will have a new water treatment plant by 2015 according to the Minister of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs.

Rosa Aguilar was speaking to the Congress of Deputies in Nerja when she recalled that the Council of Ministers approved the April 29 draft contract for the project work and implementation of the filter, with a budget of 40.9 million euros. Aguilar explained that this action will serve a population of 100,000 inhabitants and the municipality will provide a comprehensive sanitation system which meets all EU water quality directives.

Aguilar promised that the project would be completed by 2015 no matter what.  Let’s hope the promise is kept.
