Nerja’s newest Mercadona supermarket, which has been under construction since last year, is due to open on Friday February the 7th. The new store is located on the east side of Nerja, near to Burriana beach and Capistrano village and has a large car park, accessed from Avenida Pescia.
The new shop will be a welcome addition to Nerja’s supermarkets, and should help ease the overcrowding during the summer months and holiday periods and will be especially convenient for those travelling by car.
Mercadona is a Spanish owned chain, with nearly 1,500 supermarkets throughout Spain, accounting for 13.5% of the country’s food retail space. The company employs over 70,000 people and claims that more than 4.6 million Spanish households do their grocery shopping at Mercadona every day.
