The long awaited new car park for Burriana has taken a further step forward, with the approval of the initial design plans by Nerja Ayuntamiento. The car park will be on three levels and have capacity for some 200 cars.
The total cost of the project will be around 3 million Euros and is expected to take 18 months to complete, although a start date for the construction work has not been announced. Finance for the project will come from the state fund for the modernisation of tourism infrastructures (FOMIT).
The new car park will be the fourth to be built in Nerja, the others being the underground car parks at the Balcon de Europa, with 733 spaces, Verano Azul park with 273 spaces and the public pool car park, with 70 spaces.
Separately the council has also announced the approval for the new fire station to be built on a piece of land next to the access road to the motorway. The land was given to the council by the County Council for this purpose in 2008. The budget for the project is 1.2 million Euros. The work will have to be approved by the regional government in Seville before it can go ahead.
