The San Isidro Festival in Nerja for 2011 took place yesterday.  As always the parade was spectacular, with the usual ingredients of beautiful horses, smart caballeros, powerful oxen with brightly coloured headresses, all manner of carts and wagons and motor driven vehicles, and of course the fabulously dressed women.

The weather turned quite chilly in the afternoon, which is very unusual for San Isidro, but by then everyone had reached the caves at Maro and didn’t care.  The wine had already flowed freely and the party continued late into the night.

If you would like to see some photographs of the 2011 parade, the gallery on the San Isidro page has been updated.
