The fireworks started at around about 8pm last night as Nerja geared-up for the Euro 2012 semi-final match against Portugal, which kicked off at 8.45. Luckily there were no goals scored during the match, so the evening was almost peaceful with the roads deserted and restaurants without TVs unusually quiet.

Spain finally managed to win after extra time and penalties, at which point the fireworks, the car horns and the klaxons got going.

Tonight at 8.45pm Germany play Italy to decide who Spain will meet in the final on Sunday evening. The bars are bound to be busy on Sunday, so if you want to watch the match, buy a fake Spain shirt from a street seller, get there early and prepare for the fireworks.
