The Spanish General Election takes place on November 20th and the campaigning by the political parties officially started at midnight last night, November 4th.

This morning, if you are braving the relentless rain, you should see the first election posters decorating the streets.

It is expected that the Partido Popular will defeat the current governing party, the PSOE, with the PP leader Mariano Rajoy showing a 15 point lead in the polls.  According to most commentators the only question is whether the win will lead to an overall majority or not.

If you would like to see the leaders of the two main parties go head to head in a pre-election debate, this will take place on Monday November 7th at approximatley 9.30pm.  The time will be confirmed once TV broadcasters advise on their mind-numbingly long advertising schedules.
