This afternoon, Saturday 17th December, the annual ‘Milla de Navidad’ takes place at the Balcon de Europa in Nerja. This is the 27th running of the Christmas Mile and everyone is welcome to take part.
There are 23 races in all, with entrants divided by age and gender, ranging from children born after 2004 to a veteran’s race for the over 55’s. The winner of each category will receive a ‘jamon’. If anyone manages to beat the all time record for the race they will win €100. The men’s record is 4 minutes 15, whilst the women’s is 5 minutes. The top 6 in each race also receive a trophy.
This is a really fun day and begins at 4pm. If you wish to take part you can register at the Balcon up to 30 minutes before the start and it only costs €1. Those who don’t fancy running a mile can join in a walk along the route after the races have finished and all registered participants will receive a gift and also have the chance to win a ‘jamon’ in a draw.
The race will begin at the Balcon de Europa and go up Diputacion and back, avoiding El Barrio this year due to the road works taking place there.
