Plaza Andalucia is a small square well off the tourist track, in a residential area known as La Barriada de las Protegidas between Calle Los Huertos and the main road (see map below). San Miguel church is at one and at the other is a statue of Blas Infante an Andalucian politician, writer, historian and musicologist, known as the father of Andalucian nationalism who was murdered by Franco’s forces during the Spanish civil war.

The square hosts local events in the summer and winter months. Unlike most of the other squares in Nerja, there are no cafes or restaurants on the square itself, although there are a number of small local bars in the adjoining streets, very popular with locals and a few intrepid tourists who make it this far into the heart of the real Nerja town.
