The Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is run by volunteers dedicated to rescuing, caring for and protecting donkeys, mules and horses. We have along the way given refuge to many other animals from countless dogs to goats, pigs, chickens, cats, turkeys and many more.
We are a fully registered non-profit Spanish Association called the Malaga Association of Donkey Sanctuaries.
We rely entirely on donations and we receive no grants or help from the Government.
You can find the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary in the small Andalucian town of Nerja, the unspoilt jewel of the Costa Del Sol.
If you would like more information about the sanctuary please visit our website 1 or the website 2. Volunteers are always needed to help look after the animals or assist with fund raising, so if you have some free time why not come along and talk to us.
We are open every day and you are welcome to visit us to see the donkeys and mules and to feed them by hand. Bring plenty of carrots!
