If you are a football fan and are in Nerja during the La Liga season why not take the opportunity to watch a match at La Rosaleda, the home of Malaga FC.
Since Sheikh Al-Thani bought the club in 2010 the fortunes of the club now seem to be on the rise, and hopefully the team can challenge the dominant La Liga duo of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the near future.
The Malaga stadium is on Paseo de Martiricos (see map) and can be reached on foot from the main bus station in about 25 minutes. A taxi to the ground will be around €7 and if you are driving there is car parking at the La Rosaleda shopping centre close by. Cheapest ticket prices are from about €40 but can be much higher for high profile games against Barcelona, Real Madrid or Andalucian rivals Sevilla although the chance of getting a ticket is remote unless you buy on the black market.
At the moment there is no facility to get tickets online from the club so you need to ring the stadium on 952 10 44 88 or email then at Malaga Ticket Office
Malaga CF also have a club museum and stadium tour so even if you don’t get to see a game you can take a look behind the scenes, visit the dressing rooms, tour the stands, and sit in the dugout.
There are many expats who go to Malaga games, and they have their own official supporters club and are known locally as the Guiri Army. Some season ticket holders live in Nerja and organise transport to matches, so if you are interested in going with them please let us know and we can try and put you in touch with someone in town.
